Cardamom, Rhubarb, Bergamot, and Lemon
Lavender Trio, Geranium, Patchouli, and Cedarwood
Vanilla Bean, Tolu Balsam, and Haitian Vetiver
Phantom Parfum starts out fresh, but there is a darker quality underneath that keeps it from feeling like a typical fresh fragrance. The citrus and tart rhubarb give the opening a crisp, slightly sharp edge, with just enough herbal spice to make things interesting. As that initial brightness settles, lavender becomes much more noticeable, giving the fragrance a clean, aromatic feel while the woods and earthier notes begin to come through. The longer it sits on my skin, the smoother and deeper it becomes, with vetiver adding an earthy dryness and the resinous notes bringing warmth to the finish. For me, it is that shift from bright and fresh to dark, woody, and warm that makes Phantom Parfum interesting.
When I first spray Phantom Parfum, the rhubarb is what immediately grabs my attention. It has this tart, almost mouth-puckering quality that mixes with the citrus and gives the opening a sharp burst of freshness. I also pick up a slightly spicy, herbal edge in the background, which I really enjoy because it keeps the fragrance from smelling too clean or straightforward. Even this early on, I can already sense some of the darker character starting to creep through.
Phantom Parfum makes its presence known from the moment I spray it. For the first one to two hours, I get strong projection and a noticeable scent bubble around me, but it never feels like it is trying too hard. This is the kind of performance I really enjoy for a night out—it has enough presence to get noticed in a social setting while still feeling polished and put together.
Despite what the note breakdown might suggest, the dry down takes Phantom Parfum in a direction I wasn’t expecting. On my skin, there is something that reminds me of warm cinnamon buns—rich, creamy, and almost vanilla-like, with a subtle cinnamon warmth even though neither note is actually listed in the fragrance. The Tolu balsam seems to be doing much of the work here, giving the scent a deep, resinous sweetness that creates that impression for me. Haitian vetiver provides a great contrast, adding a smoky, earthy, almost mineral quality that keeps the sweetness in check. It is an unusual combination, but one that becomes more interesting the longer I wear it.
What I enjoy most about Phantom Parfum is how much it changes as I wear it. It begins bright and tart, with rhubarb and citrus making a confident entrance before lavender, woods, and darker notes gradually take over. The real surprise comes in the dry down, where Tolu balsam creates a warm, resinous sweetness that reminds me of fresh cinnamon buns, while Haitian vetiver adds a smoky, earthy edge that keeps everything balanced. It is a fragrance with real staying power, lasting around eight to ten hours on my skin and noticeably longer on clothing. For me, that journey from sharp freshness to something warm, dark, and unexpectedly comforting is what makes Phantom Parfum so memorable.
Some fragrances simply smell good. Others connect themselves to a place, a memory, or a particular version of myself. Phantom Parfum does that for me. It smells like nighttime—the kind of fragrance that makes me want to dress well, go somewhere, meet someone, and see where the night takes me.
The opening is surprisingly bright. Rhubarb immediately grabs my attention with a tart, almost mouth-puckering quality, while citrus adds a crisp freshness. An herbal spiciness underneath keeps it from becoming too clean or predictable. Even early on, though, I can sense something darker waiting to emerge.
As it settles, lavender becomes more noticeable before the woods, vetiver and resinous warmth begin taking over. I love this transition. The brightness slowly fades into something deeper, warmer and more sensual.
The dry down is where Phantom really surprises me. On my skin, I get warm cinnamon buns—creamy, slightly spicy and almost vanilla-like, even though neither cinnamon nor vanilla is listed. I suspect the Tolu balsam creates much of that effect. Haitian vetiver adds a smoky, earthy dryness that keeps the sweetness beautifully grounded.
Performance is excellent. For the first one to two hours, it projects strongly and creates a noticeable scent bubble without becoming obnoxious. I get eight to ten hours on skin and even longer on clothing.
More than anything, Phantom Parfum reminds me of reckless nights in San Antonio—dressed to the nines, heading to Paramour with no intention of going home early. It also takes me back to Paris, sitting at rooftop bars at twilight, watching the city change below me, meeting new friends and sometimes new companions, never knowing exactly where the evening might lead.
That is Phantom Parfum to me: sophisticated without being restrained, warm but dark, confident with just enough danger underneath. It has a definite nocturnal king energy—and some nights, that is exactly who I want to be.
Phantom Parfum earns an easy 5 out of 5 stars from me. It isn't just a fragrance I enjoy wearing; it creates a mood, brings back memories, and makes me want to go out and make a few new ones.
